Position Summary

MCC instructors are higher education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies to reach a variety of learners. They assess student learning to ensure student success, staying abreast of current and emerging trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts, helping the College to reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Including but are not limited to:

Teach courses as assigned by the CollegeAvailable to teach daytime, evening, or weekend classes, as neededAvailable for student conferences either before or after class, and by college email if necessaryDevelop syllabus using MCC syllabus templateWork cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellenceConduct regular assessment of student learningMaintain and submit accurate student and course-related paperwork and data needed for college purposes in a timely fashionDocument and report attendance daily and maintain and submit accurate attendance records weeklySubmit grade reports electronically by the required dateUtilize a variety of pedagogical techniques to meet the diverse needs of our student populationUtilize computer-based instruction and databases when necessaryRequired Qualifications

A master's degree in psychology or a master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in psychologyExperience teaching Introduction to Psychology coursesWillingness to use educational technology (i.e. course management platform such as Canvas)Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, especially regarding contemporary expertise specific to assigned teaching content Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
