GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The full-time Early Childhood Practicum Supervisor coordinates activities related to the education program's practicum and capstone experiences. The practicum supervisor supports students directly through practicum and capstone supervision and indirectly through supporting other part-time and full-time instructors. The coordinator ensures that NPC students in early childhood and elementary education programs are developing the knowledge and competencies necessary to enter the field as high-quality education professionals. Practicum supervisors conduct field-based observations and provide direct instruction, coaching, feedback, evaluation, and resources to individuals and small groups during practicum coaching at the students' practicum site locations. The purpose of practicum supervision is to coach students in the immediate application and reflection of learning in a hands-on, educational setting.
The practicum supervisor also coordinates placements and maintains positive, professional relationships with community and school-based sites. The Practicum Supervisor works with local early childhood settings to ensure effective relationships with programs and site supervisors/mentors. Coordination may include training and support of site supervisors and mentor teachers as a means to promote consistency across practicum settings.
