Performs primary functions as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) in assessing, planning, implementing & evaluating the care of sexual assault victims; with additional ability to assess the need for referral for additional care including medical, mental health, pediatric, ambulatory & emergent conditions. Performs secondary functions as an Emergency Department clinical nurse assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating
the care of patients with emergent medical and nursing care.

Education
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the , , , or an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
LicensureFor all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the . In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
ExperienceThe work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing.
Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) Grade LevelIn addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or
- At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Independently carrying out the duties of providing and coordinating with staff education by assessing and providing educational needs on Emergency Department patient care. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SANE/SAFE) certified OR will obtain Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SANE/SAFE) training to independently perform patient care within one year of hire. Independently gathering and analyzing data for exam programs and provides quarterly reports and year-end evaluation to the supervisor.
Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only)
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
