Emphasis will be placed on audition, script analysis, actor-to-camera relationship and fundamental techniques for audition and performance for TV/film. Instructor must be available starting February 2nd, 2026. This course will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00pm-4:30pm.If hired:1. Successful candidates will work in close cooperation with the Acting for Camera Program Coordinator and report to the Department Coordinator of the Theatre Arts Department2. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching courses in a. Acting for camera3. Should practice and prepare repertoire for audition and performance.4. Assists students in editing scene work to create footage reel.5. Helps prepare students to better perform in both professional film and audition setting.6. Maintains a friendly, supportive atmosphere for students, staff, faculty, and the publicSpecial Requirements:SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSThe award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. See our website here for information regarding evaluation of foreign degrees.Minimum Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/ performanceORBachelor’s or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performanceANDMasters in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanitiesORPossess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.ORThe equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.Commitment to diversity. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.Desirable Qualifications:DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSExtensive understanding of multi-camera and single camera production and performance techniques.Extensive understanding of multi-camera and single camera directing techniques.Extensive understanding of commercial audition process.Experience editing for multi-camera and single camera production.Understanding of lighting and sound for multi-camera and single camera production.Directly related professional performance experience is desired.Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in theater arts, particularly as it relates to the relevance of theater arts to student’s lives, interest, and communities; demonstrated ability to address equity gaps of racially minoritized groups within theater arts.LMS experience/training (canvas).Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, and community leaders in Theatre Arts programs and initiatives specifically designed to support historically underrepresented students in achieving their educational goals. This includes fostering partnerships with local arts organizations, creating mentorship opportunities for BIPOC and first-generation students, and developing inclusive curricula and productions that reflect diverse cultural narratives.
