The Bloomberg American Health Initiative seeks to make progress on five challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence. A key part of the initiative is the Bloomberg Fellows Program, which is designed for individuals who are currently working with organizations on the front lines of one of these five challenges in the United States. Bloomberg Fellows pursue either an MPH or a DrPH degree and center their studies in their focus area and engage with their organization while at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. We are seeking a Tutor (Epidemiology & Biostatistics) who will provide academic support to Bloomberg Fellows on an as needed basis for biostatistics and epidemiology courses and possibly other quantitative related coursework. The position will report to the Fellowship Officer. The position will handle information of sensitive and confidential nature and as such will be required to maintain strict confidentiality. The position is remote.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support/tutor Bloomberg Fellows specifically in core courses: Statistical Reasoning in Public Health 1 and 2 and Epidemiologic Inference 1 and 2 as requested.
  • Identify individualized strategies to aid students in the understanding of their course material.
  • Assist students with reviewing class material, understanding homework and assignments, and practice study skills for exams.
  • As needed, review and provide constructive feedback on homework, and assignments for students.
  • Manage a flexible schedule to meet the needs of Bloomberg Fellows via zoom, phone, or other virtual platforms.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Must have completed courses interested in tutoring with at least B+ or be working toward a Master's or Ph.D in a related field.
  • Experience navigating various learning management systems (I.e., Zoom Google Classroom, etc.)
