Job Summary Reporting to the Executive Director of Development for University Advancement, the Sr. Director of Development will contribute significantly to development efforts, helping to develop and execute effective strategies for cultivating and stewarding donors and prospects capable of making major gifts ($25,000+) in support of UWG's institutional priorities. As a skilled fundraiser, the Sr. Director of Development will prepare or assist with the submission of a variety of reports, written proposals, and informational materials that serve to support the fundraising enterprise, secure major gifts and/or steward donor relationships.Responsibilities 1 - Develops & implements comprehensive identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio with a minimum of 100 prospects/donors. Works both independently & with colleagues & volunteers to implement strategies. Qualifies identified prospects through individual visits, advises Data Team of potential new prospects and assumes specific responsibility for prospect activity. Employs an aggressive strategic moves management program to ensure movement along the development donor continuum pipeline. Devises personalized involvement/engagement strategies for all prospects using a 'top-down' approach to ensure that highest rated prospects receive priority. Partners with development team to devise an overall strategy for cultivating, soliciting and stewardship of potential major and planned gift donors. Ensures stewardship is provided to donors on existing endowment and current-use funds to demonstrate impact of gifts to UWG in coordination with Special Events, Donor Relations and Stewardship colleagues. 2 - Schedules appointments and oversees the preparation of necessary materials, including funding proposals, briefings for the Executive Director of Development and VP of UA, and stewardship reports for all assigned prospects. Prepare or assist with the submission of a variety of management reports, private/ corporate foundation reports, written proposals and informational materials that serve to support the fundraising enterprise, secure major gifts and steward donor relationships. Assist the Executive Director of Development and Vice President for University Advancement in working with senior university leaders including deans and directors to analyze priorities, determine needs and inform strategic fundraising plans for select programs/projects. Represent UA leadership by participating in committees relating to university strategic initiatives. 3 - Assists in the coaching and training of new and existing development team members to educate them on best practices, protocol and fundamentals, advise team on fundraising strategies, establishing priorities and understanding of necessary outcomes.4-Actively participate in activities associated with the University, the University Advancement Division, and as part of the broader academic community. Must be willing to travel and perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Educational RequirementsBachelor's DegreeRequired ExperienceA minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising/ development, recruitment, marketing, sales or related field.Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational QualificationsMaster's DegreePreferred Experience6+ years' experience as a major giving officer of a higher education institution or a non-profit organization, which includes major giving, planned giving and comprehensive fundraising campaigns.Proposed Salary Salary is commensurate with experience.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIESAs a performance-driven professional, the Sr. Director of Development will have demonstrated success in closing five, six, and seven figure major gifts in higher education and campaign environments. Uses expert relationship building skills to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal gift individual, corporate, institutional/foundation prospects and donors. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build rapport with prospects and donors from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and possess a strong energy level and work ethic. This position requires skills in prioritizing, negotiating, influencing, strategic planning, project management, program administration and organization. Must be able to think strategically and work proactively with little supervision, demonstrating an ability to align strategy, development/implementation with pre-approved goals/priorities.KNOWLEDGEKnowledge and proficiency working with Blackbaud CRM -- Raiser's Edge.
