Patient Care Assistant II

POSITIONSUMMARY: Responsible for greeting patients on the phone and in theclinic in a warm
friendly tone. Registration andinterviewing of patients to obtain accurate demographic andfinancial
information while scheduling appointment.Other responsibilities may include returning messages,
scheduling follow up tests, referrals and priorauthorizations. Assists patients, nurses and providers
in patient care in the clinic setting. Performs vital signs,and obtains history of chief complaint for
visit.Performs various Point of Care Testing and documents assuringquality control for each test
completed.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Graduation orGED. Successful completion of an accredited nursing
assistant, EMT, or medical assistant program of study.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS issued through American HeartAssociation and Certified
Medical Assistantcertification required.
SKILLS:
Outstanding Service Excellence skills to guarantee quality patientcare and patient
satisfaction
Knowledge andskill to obtain vital signs and PHI
Strongorganizational skills; excellent verbal, written and interpersonalcommunication skills
required
Ability towork collaboratively with others
Ability to workindependently, asserts initiative on performance improvementopportunities
Ability to navigate through computersoftware by use of a mouse, keyboard or stylus and
windows based software.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum ofone year of in-patient or medical office experience includingdirect
patient preferred.
NATURE OFSUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Clinic Manager
ENVIRONMENT: Requires knowledge of general safety standards tolimit exposure to infectious
disease. Daily contactwith infectious diseases and body fluids.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Bending, stooping,and lifting up to 35 lbs, reaching above head and
belowknee level. Utilization of proper body mechanics. Long periods ofsitting at times. Keyboard
usage with sound ergonomicprinciples. Must be flexible in work schedule.
