TITLE: Diversity Equity, Inclusion (DEI) & Civil Rights Compliance CoordinatorDEPARTMENT: Land GrantREPORTS TO: USDA Civil Rights Compliance Officer STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per weekEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt  JOB SUMMARY: The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Civil Rights Coordinator is part of the Kentucky State University’s Land Grant Program. This position will work directly with the USDA Civil Rights Officer. The key role of this position is to assist the USDA Civil Rights Officer organize, evaluate, and report on programs related to civil rights compliance, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).  This position will provide support to USDA Civil Rights Compliance management for Extension and Research programs and activities. The DEI & Civil Rights Compliance Coordinator performs a variety of program support duties, performs data entry, maintains files, assists with coordinating ongoing professional development, is responsible for the development and implementation of departmental programs and activities, and supports and exhibits inclusive excellence for Kentucky State University.  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist with and/or develop and implement (conduct) ongoing DEIA and civil rights training, activities, and events for faculty and staff.Coordinate all logistics related to program implementation and trainings for faculty/staff.Coordinate marketing efforts for diversity-related events, educational opportunities, trainings, and workshops, and other multicultural efforts for the college. Design and maintain evaluation system for DEIA and civil rights programs. Create and distribute general correspondence, internal reports, and other documents.Assist with USDA/NIFA Civil Rights compliance and DEI reports.Assist with ongoing USDA civil rights compliance management including the USDA/NIFA Civil Rights compliance audit.Assist Civil Rights Officer with internal audit reviews for Research and Extension programs.Develop and/or maintain record keeping system.Collect and compile data (including demographic data) to help identify areas of focus and to assist with parity and reporting.Update website content.Coordinate the communication and flow of information between the various internal and external stakeholders.Assist Civil Rights Officer with LEP (Limited English Proficiency) efforts.Pursue professional development opportunities; attend conferences and professional meetings to remain current with diversity and inclusion issues/efforts.Adhere to current University policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned including special assignments related to the areas of responsibility, as well as the needs of the college and the University.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 MINIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned bachelor’s degree in social science, education, or related fieldKnowledge or willingness to learn about Land-Grant universities and Cooperative ExtensionKnowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion best practicesDemonstrated competency working with diverse audiences.Demonstrated competency in matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position does not have supervisory responsibility.  WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.No or very limited physical effort required.No or very limited exposure to physical risk.Be able to lift 40 lbs.Be able to work some nights and weekends.Work could involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noisesRequires some standing or walking.Work will involve state travel during audit times.  Internal Candidates are Encouraged to Apply
