Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary: The Center for Water Quality Research (CWQR) affiliated to the Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is a seeking candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in environmental engineering and water chemistry. The candidate will be supporting the CWQR research projects and will be advised by Dr. Leigh Terry.

Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Environmental Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Environmental Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or a related field. Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Experience with LC-MS/MS and some experience in using PFAS analytical detection methods.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical chemistry skills are, including but not limited to LC-MS, ICP-OES and GC-MS. Experience with data visualization and analysis software.
