Legal Assistant

• Provide support to assigned attorneys and backup to other attorneys as requested.
• Prepare, edit, and proofread a variety of documents including correspondence, pleadings, and agreements.
• Manage document production, including Bates Stamping.
• Draft simple pleadings and correspondence.
• Prepare court filings and file with various courts, including Federal Court and Court of Appeals.
• Create Table of Contents and Table of Authorities.
• Prepare and finalize discovery documents.
• Communicate with court staff regarding various issues.
• Handle outgoing and incoming mail/FedEx for assigned attorneys.
• Maintain calendars for assigned attorneys, coordinating meetings, depositions, and conference calls.
• Prepare Trial Memorandum and calendar all appearances and deadlines.
• Schedule local and out-of-town depositions, including conference room arrangements.
• Coordinate mediation dates.
• Scan and upload documents to the Document Management System.
• Assist with trial preparation and create masters for new files.
• Answer telephones and take detailed messages.
• Interact with clients, outside counsel, and others as requested by attorneys.
• Assist with overflow court/judge's rules and filing procedures.

• E-billing experience in the state of CA.
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience as a Legal Assistant.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Proficient with court rules and calendaring deadlines.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
• Teamwork oriented with the ability to work independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and principles.
• Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.

• the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
• licensure and certification requirements;
• office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
