DescriptionPosition Overview
Oversee entire irrigation system throughout campus using SmartRain irrigation system. Perform irrigation system maintenance, and repairs as needed. Oversee irrigation system installations by outside contractor, ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and in compliance with industry standard and regulations. Manage inventory and equipment to ensure all necessary materials and tools are available to complete work. Communicate with Manager on needed system improvements or upgrades. Maintain accurate records of all work and materials used. Winterize irrigation system to minimize damage from freezing temperatures. Maintain all irrigation backflows throughout campus. Perform utility locates as requested through 811 Okie Locate on campus and update through 811 Okie portal. Perform snow removal and other duties as assigned.Job DutiesMonitor, operate, service, and repair all irrigation zones monthly, repair any issues found. Oversee irrigation system installations by outside contractors, ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Manage parts inventory, submit material requests to replenish parts inventory monthly. Trouble shoot and maintain electrical system used to operate irrigation and pump system. Inspect diagnose, repair, adjust, and program satellite controllers and clocks, and understand how to diagnose faulty electrical solenoids for irrigation system. Repair and install PVC pipe and fittings, fabricate parts and modify system as appropriate. Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery and equipment such as tractor and trencher. Coordinate with contractors and project manager to ensure any damage is repaired during construction projects. Maintain all irrigation backflows throughout campus. Perform utility locates as requested through 811 Okie Locate on campus and update through 811 Okie portal. Perform snow removal and other duties as assigned. Observes, communicates, complies with and enforces Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). Available to help with a facilities emergency. This may necessitate the use of your personal cell phone for after-hour call-backs. Further, a pre-arranged shift change may be implemented for predictable emergencies like inclement weather. Performs duties and complies with needs of special events, before, during, and after the special events are completed. Qualifications/Experience Required Minimum 1 year experience as an irrigation technician. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed. Knowledge of and ability to operate desktop computer, iPad, and applicable irrigation operating software. Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials. Be able to work primarily outside in all types of extreme weather conditions.Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.Qualifications/Experience Preferred 2+ years of experience as an irrigation technician. Experience operating irrigation software. Strong knowledge of irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesThis position is for installing, repairing and maintaining the irrigation system by manual labor, and performing utility locates as requested through 811 Okie Locate. This position will have an impact on operations of multiple work areas. Routinely answers questions and provides information and data requested by individuals within or outside of the work area. Demonstrates ability to operate independently with intermittent supervision for day-to-day operations.The job consists of repetitive problem-solving skills and performs manual tasks to make those repairs. Primarily responsible for irrigation system and applying organizational policies and procedures and/or determining appropriate process to follow. Supports the Landscape Department in day-to-day operations and reports to the Landscape Manager.Physical Demands
