The Maintenance Planner plans, schedules and coordinates preventative maintenance and repair work orders and is a key leader in our continued transition to a predictive, preventative maintenance culture.
This is a fast-paced, high change-over environment where every minute of downtime counts. A successful Maintenance Planner will build effective communication and relationships between functions within the organization and work with a collaborative mindset.
Partnership Building:
- Work with Parts Coordinator to ensure the proper parts in the proper quantities are kept on hand to support both planned and reactive maintenance activities
- Principal contact and liaison between Maintenance, Operations and other supported departments. In this capacity, the planner ensures that all internal beneficiaries of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality service.
- A continuing interest in internal needs. With keen awareness of the situation (schedule, problems, etc.), the Planner is able to help Operations balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance.
Planning and Coordinating:
- Plans schedules and coordinates preventative maintenance and repair work orders to help create a more stable and predictive maintenance environment.
- Is responsible for long-range as well as short-range planning, in partnership with department leaders.
Project Management:
- Support the execution of capital projects; working with vendors to get quotes, schedule and complete work
- Develops job plans and fully utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Audit Work Order completion and evaluate feedback from job plans to improve future work
- Recommend measures to improve efficiency and troubleshooting of equipment
Data Capture:
- Determines reporting and analysis needs and continuously improves the preventative maintenance program.
- Monitor, interpret, and make decisions based on information delivered through Red Zone Operations Management system
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years Maintenance Planning experience
- Previous use of CMMS system required
- Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, equipment, material and safety procedures used in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrument equipment used in manufacturing and distribution facilities
- Skilled in planning and scheduling maintenance work and estimating materials, labor and equipment costs
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles and practices
- Positive customer service attitude and effective working relationships with internal and external customers
- Ability to maintain attention to detail, demonstrate flexibility, create structure and follow through amid interruptions and changing priorities
- Have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to set priorities, work independently and coordinate multiple projects utilizing available resources
- Self-starter with strong work ethic.
- Strong interpersonal skills working with peers and management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, leadership skills and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualification (if Applicable):
- Understanding of basic financial concepts, such as estimating and budgeting
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as Excel
- Knowledge of BigFoot CMMS is a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Generally, an office/desk position using a computer and telephone
- Must be able to work occasional extra hours, evenings, and weekends when necessary
