SUMMARY
Hagerstown Community College is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Business, including the ability to teach accounting or economics. The incumbent will perform other faculty responsibilities as described in the Faculty Load, Promotion, and Tenure document, including advising students, marketing the programs to relevant publics, and performing college and community service.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. The Instructor of Business, including Accounting or Economics faculty member, reports directly to and is responsible to the Director of Behavioral and Social Science/Business.

B. The position provides supervision to no one.

C. The Business, including Accounting or Economics faculty member coordinates most closely with the BSSB Director, Business faculty, and other faculty in the social sciences and business division.

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Teaching – In this position, the faculty member is expected to prepare for and teach 15 credits in the fall and spring terms. Overload teaching is available with approval of the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

B. Assessment - A faculty member is expected to assess learning outcomes at the course, program, general education, and institutional levels.

C. Student Advisement- A faculty member should be available to advise students on courses, programs and career and transfer objectives, with support from advising and registration staff.

D. Student Advocacy -A faculty member should be committed to student learning and success and available to help students as may be needed.

E. Curriculum Development -A faculty member must be current in his or her field and transfer that knowledge to students in course content and teaching delivery, as well as to curriculum updates.

F. Recruitment and Marketing -A faculty member is a College ambassador with special obligations to promote his/her discipline or program to students and to the local community.

G. Shared Governance- A faculty member participates in all levels of shared College governance, including departmental, divisional, and institutional-wide activities.

H. Professional Development- A faculty member maintains an approved professional development plan that supports the College's strategic goals.

I. College Service - A faculty member is expected to serve the College in activities addressing departmental responsibilities, and/or community outreach, and/or student and campus life activities.

J. Community Service - A faculty member serves the College in voluntary community service activity that positively reflects the College's image and is not in conflict with the College's strategic goals or faculty responsibilities.

SPECIFIC FACULTY REPONSIBILITIES
A. Teaches courses in Business, including Accounting or Economics

1. Excellence in teaching.
2. Conducts outcomes assessment of students enrolled in his or her classes.
3. Advises and otherwise supports students in these programs.
4. Implements a professional development plan to improve teaching skills.
5. Participates in marketing, recruitment and retention of students in these programs.
6. Maintains contact and plan activities with teachers and students in the WCPS, as appropriate.
7. Works closely with students to establish student clubs, field trips, or other activities related to their major in Business.
8. Contributes to development of marketing materials, communicate with prospective students, and participates in Open Houses and other activities to reach prospective students.

B. Provides service to the College and the Community

1. Establishes contacts in the community.
2. Serves on shared governance and ad hoc committees.
3. Represents the College in community organizations and events on request.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MBA or Master’s degree in a business area required. A minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong teaching skills. Excellent communication skills. Collegial. Flexible. Ability to teach both web-and classroom-based courses. Specialized knowledge that complements other faculty in the program.
