Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our educational team. The SLP will provide comprehensive speech and language services to students, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' communication needs within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations to identify speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually or in small groups.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom and home environments.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise on speech and language goals and progress.
  • Educate and train school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies to support students' communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress notes, reports, and billing information.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as school district policies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Current Ohio Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board.
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Licensure: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Pupil Services License in Speech-Language Pathology from the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check as required by the Ohio Department of Education and the school district.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Knowledge of school-based therapy models and the IEP process.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • The position requires working in a school environment, which may involve moving between classrooms and schools within the district.
  • The role may involve lifting or moving equipment used for therapy.
