Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist

Location: Lockport, Illinois

Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Overview: The Lockport School District is seeking a motivated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. The SLP will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, and communication disorders. This position plays a crucial role in helping students achieve their full potential academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify speech and language disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students, both individually and in groups.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support students' communication development.
  • Maintain detailed records of student assessments, therapy sessions, and progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of students' goals and objectives.
  • Provide training and support to teachers and staff on speech and language development strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Illinois state license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement (Teaching Endorsement: 154).
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
  • Compliance with state and federal regulations for special education.
