Blazerjobs is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Director to join our team and lead the special education program at a reputable school in Colorado Springs, CO. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with special needs and a proven track record in educational leadership. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of special education services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing leadership to special education staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive special education programs and services.
  • Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state regulations.
  • Supervise and support special education teachers and staff.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and administrators to meet student needs.
  • Develop and manage the special education budget.
  • Conduct training and professional development sessions for staff.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students receiving special education services.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Special Education Director licensure in Colorado.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience in a similar role within a school district.
