The 20-bed Nurse Residency Unit(NRU) is the cornerstone of the Med/Surg Nurse Residency Program atPiedmont Athens Regional. NRU serves 7 med/surg units by onboardingthree cohorts of new graduate nurses each year. New graduate nursescomplete the first part of their orientation on this dedicated unitwith experienced preceptors, which provides new nurses with a solidclinical foundation prior to moving to their assigned home unit.The Nurse Residency Unit creates a safe learning environment toassist in developing competent, highly-skilled nurses. Ourdedicated preceptors, leadership team and Nurse ResidencyCoordinator provide unparalleled support to nurse residents duringorientation and transition to practice.
In thestate-of-the-art new Main Tower, the NRU nurse provideshigh-quality nursing care to acute care patients utilizing nursingprocesses to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care ofpatients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies andprocedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growthand accountability. The NRU nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care topatients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursingprocesses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care forpatients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies andprocedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growthand accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.
Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursingprogram
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing programeligible
MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License. BLS certification required.
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced certification in fieldof specialty, if applicable. Bachelor's degree preferred. NursingExperience in Hospital Setting Preferred.
