Full-Time Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
Start/End Dates: August 1, 2024 May 22, 2025
Location:Cusseta, GA
Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) with active GA licensure/certification to join our team for the upcoming academic year. As a Full-Time DHH Teacher, you will work collaboratively with general education teachers, speech pathologists, and other professionals to support students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Your primary responsibilities will include providing interpretation and instruction in sign language, writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), monitoring and working on IEP goals with data collection, and offering support to guardians to ensure consistency between home and school practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation and instruction on sign language for DHH students.
- Collaborate and plan with general education teachers and speech pathologists.
- Write IEPs and work on IEP goals with progress monitoring and data collection.
- Support guardians by keeping them informed of strategies consistent with school practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Coordinator and Building Level Principal.
Qualifications:
- Active GA licensure/certification in teaching for the deaf and hard of hearing.
- Experience working with DHH students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade preferred.
- Proficiency in using GoIEP and PowerSchool software/systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
