Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Position Type: Full-Time (2024-2025 School Year)

Location: Cupertino, CA

Job Description:

Soliant is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our educational team in Cupertino, CA, for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with visual impairments. As a TVI, you will work closely with students, parents, and other school staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Provide specialized instruction to students based on their IEP goals.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Teach Braille, assistive technology, and other skills necessary for students' independence.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' needs and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and behavior.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss students' progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other planning sessions.
  • Provide support and guidance to paraprofessionals and support staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments.
  • Strong understanding of child development and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
