JOBPURPOSE:
As a member of the team, a CRNA is an advancedpractice registered nurse (APRN) who practices under the medicaldirection of anesthesiologists to deliver high-quality, patientcentered, evidence-based anesthesia services. The CRNA cares forpatients at all acuity levels in a variety of settings includingbut not limited to surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic andtherapeutic procedures.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical responsibilities of the CRNAwill be delegated by an anesthesiologist. Care is directed by ananesthesiologist who shares responsibility for the patient. Withthe direction of the anesthesiologist the CRNA will:
Contribute to the preoperative collection and documentation ofpatient data
Review, request, and order (as permitted bystate law), laboratory/diagnostic studies
Obtain, order,and administer pre-anesthetic medication or treatment
Develop and implement an anesthesia care plan
Obtain,prepare, and use equipment, invasive and non-invasive monitorssupplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation andanesthesia; perform safety checks as needed
Select,order, obtain, and administer analgesic and anesthetic agents,adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, or blood productsnecessary to provide anesthesia services
Perform allaspects of airway management
Facilitate emergence andrecovery from anesthesia by evaluating patient response, andselecting, ordering, and administering medications, fluids, andventilator support to maintain patient stability duringtransfer
Initiate and administer post-anesthesiapharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascularsystem
Initiate and administer respiratory support toensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation in the post-anesthesiaperiod
Evaluate the patients response to anesthesia andsurgery; take appropriate corrective action during thepost-anesthesia period
Place and manage regionalanesthetic techniques, as delineated by his or her clinicalprivileges or granted specialprivileges
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,ABILITIES
Ability to perform clinically as part of ananesthesia care team
Ability to operate, use, andinterpret data from a wide variety of equipment to performanesthesia care as well as necessary perioperative or operatingroom care to support the safety and well-being of the patient whilethey are under the direct care of the CRNA
Effectiveverbal and written communication skills are required to collaboratewith various clinical staff and other disciplines
Abilityto demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide careappropriate to the patient population(s) served
Abilityto demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth anddevelopment over the life span and ability to assess datareflective of the patients requirements relative to his or herpopulation-specific and age specific needs
Knowledge ofinfection prevention and control techniques
Ability tomaintain confidential records
Ability to implement andadhere to facility policies and procedure
Facilitate thetimely delivery of care and efficient function of theOR

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED:
BA/BS in Nursing with RN Licensure in Georgiaand Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accreditedby the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia EducationalPrograms or its predecessor
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
One (1) year of previous work experience inhospital setting, clinical quality, or performanceimprovement.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONREQUIRED BY LAW:
Georgia Licensure asCRNA
Certified by National Commission for Certification ofAnesthesiologist Assts(NCCAA)
BLS Certificationrequired
