Position Overview:

As an Earth/Life Science Teacher, you will play a vital role in engaging students with the natural world and fostering an understanding of scientific concepts related to Earth and life systems. You will develop engaging lesson plans, facilitate hands-on learning experiences, and encourage critical thinking skills as students explore topics such as ecology, geology, biology, and environmental science. By creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, you will empower students to become scientifically literate and environmentally responsible citizens.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and national standards for Earth and Life Sciences
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote active learning
  • Foster inquiry-based learning through laboratory experiments, field trips, and hands-on activities
  • Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance student understanding and engagement
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support growth and achievement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and projects that integrate Earth and Life Sciences with other subject areas
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Earth Science, Life Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching license/certification in Science (or eligibility to obtain certification)
  • Prior teaching experience in Earth Science, Life Science, or related field preferred
  • Strong content knowledge and enthusiasm for Earth and Life Sciences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
