Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Instruction: Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that meet the unique learning needs of each student, ensuring access to the curriculum and promoting academic growth.

  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct assessments to identify student strengths and areas for improvement, using data to inform instruction and track progress.

  • Behavioral Support: Create and implement positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) to support students' social-emotional development and enhance classroom behavior.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive environment that supports student success.

  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance teaching practices and stay current with best practices in special education.

  • Advocacy: Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities, promoting understanding and awareness within the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Valid Special Education certification in the state of Connecticut is required.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Approach: A student-centered mindset focused on promoting an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
