Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, modify, and evaluate technical and/or analytical problems.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.
  • Develop and recommend approaches for new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Investigate solutions to product and/or process problems.
  • Resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues.
  • Alter standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and known techniques.
  • Provide expert advice to professional colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Provide significant and innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods.
  • Execute significant projects representing an important segment of the agency’s operating programs.
  • Perform functional analysis, detailed network trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate operational requirements into HW and SW specs.
  • Apply industry best practices in IT Security, Systems Engineering, and Integration and Testing.
  • Work with system integrators on the design and use case development and execution and contractor technical product reviews.
  • Provide support for the development of acquisition strategies, Performance Work Statements, and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).

Qualifications

10+ years experience in an engineering role including at least 3 years in a DoD environment. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Holding one of the following certifications is desired: Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design Specialist, NetApp Certified Data Management Administrator (NCDA), VMware Data Center Virtualization/Cloud, EMC Cloud Infrastructure and Services (EMCCIS) or Information Storage and Management (EMCISA), and/or Microsoft MCSE or MCSA. Knowledge in moving non-virtualized/legacy applications towards a virtualized environment. Experienced with both engineering and management toolsets. Knowledge of commercial Cloud Service Providers (CSP). Experience with Active Directory, SCCM, SQL, and Hyper-V. Experience with VMWare, COTS products, custom application support, and SSL certificates. Experience with planning and implementing IaaS and PaaS platforms, and integrating systems using virtualization management tools such as VMWare. Experience with designing end to end infrastructure including selection of appropriate components to include computer and storage virtualization, networking, and supporting toolset categories (e.g., provisioning, scheduling, charge-back, and monitoring). Demonstrated proficiency in operating system, cloud and virtualization related topics (information assurance qualification, CSP integration, etc.). Broad based experience in hardware, OS, storage, networking, virtualization software, etc. Experience supporting toolsets (e.g., management planning and execution, virtualization provisioning for dynamic environments, costing services, and monitoring). Experience delivering design-ready, complex architectures. Experience with industry best standard architecture patterns and design methodologies. Experience in designing and documenting interfaces, standards, data-flows, and scenarios for distributed cloud environments. Experience in application development in a virtualized environment and certification in the following tools or methodologies: Distributed File Systems such as Apache Hadoop, Cloudera, MapR, Hortonworks; Distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) such as Hbase, Accumulo; and virtualization tools such as OpenStack, VMware, Citrix. Experience with cloud service providers such as Rackspace, Verizon/Terremark, Amazon Web Services, etc. Experience with Data Center Hosting such as CenturyLink/Savvis, Level 3 and Global Crossing. Knowledge of SAN (including EMC VNX series, Unisphere and EMC ProSphere Management Suite/NetApp FAS and Data ONTAP 8). Experience with Cisco/HP/Dell Blade server technologies in a converged network environment. Experience with VMware ESX virtualization products and solutions. Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory within a large multi-site enterprise. Knowledge of MS Exchange/SharePoint and Blackberry Enterprise Server. Experience with large scale IT/data center migration systems life cycle, including plans, designs, deployment, testing, execution, and sustainment/OEM warranty service. Experience with large (500k+ users) network performance and scaling issues and solutions are a plus. Experience with DoD NIPR and SIPR network boundaries are a plus. Experience working in DoD/USAF Acquisition Program Offices. Must have proven interpersonal team communication skills. Demonstrated systems engineering experience working on complex system integration projects and processes. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
