Job Description: Special Education Teacher

Location: Cedar Park, Texas

Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Special Education Teacher to join our team in Cedar Park, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering individualized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional success.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
  • Modify and adapt instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students needs and monitor their progress regularly.
  • Provide specialized instruction in both small group and one-on-one settings.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to address diverse learning needs.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Stay informed about current special education laws, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education (EC-12).
  • Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs is preferred.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
  • Texas Educator Certification in Special Education (EC-12).
  • Additional certification in a subject area (e.g., Math, English Language Arts) may be required depending on the teaching assignment.
  • Completion of required Texas Education Agency (TEA) training and professional development.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
