Working with the UNT Police Department will be an experience you won’t get elsewhere. The department has full law enforcement jurisdiction within the UNT campus, city of Denton, and any county where UNT maintains property. Position Overview

The Detective Corporal is assigned to the Criminal Investigative Services and is responsible for:

Obtaining and serving arrest and search warrants.
Testifying in court
Investigating narcotic activity
Recovering and returning stolen property to the rightful owner
Conducting forensic examination of crime scenes
Submitting evidence to the crime lab
Preparing and filing prosecution reports with the Denton County District Attorney's Office.
Collecting and submitting reports on crime statistics.
Maintaining records and processing public information requests
Assisting other law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations.

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet the minimum requirements for Police Officer classification and two years' of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

TCOLE Intermediate Peace Officer Proficiency Certificate
TCOLE Instructor Proficiency Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field
TCOLE Intermediate Peace Officer Proficiency Certificate
TCOLE Instructor Proficiency Certificate
Three years of police investigative experience
