Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary: The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in polymer chemistry and electrochemical engineering. The candidate will be advised by Dr. Zhongyang Wang.

Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Engineering, or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Engineering, or a related field.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Applicants should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae and include at least two references in the reference section of the application. Skills and Knowledge: Experience with polymer chemistry or electrochemistry.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical skills are beneficial, including but not limited to experimental experiences with GPC, DSC, TGA, DMA, SAXS, SEM, AFM, XPS, and GC-MS. Strong research history in a field or fields related to polymer chemistry or electrochemical engineering. Demonstrated practical written and verbal communication skills as evidenced through application materials. Demonstrated work history as a member of a research team as evidenced through application materials. Ability to train new graduate students with necessary experimental skills.
