REGISTERED NURSENURSE RESIDENCY UNIT (NRU)
The20-bed Nurse Residency Unit (NRU) is the cornerstone of theMed/Surg Nurse Residency Program at Piedmont Athens Regional. NRUserves 7 med/surg units by onboarding three cohorts of new graduatenurses each year. New graduate nurses complete the first part oftheir orientation on this dedicated unit with experiencedpreceptors, which provides new nurses with a solid clinicalfoundation prior to moving to their assigned home unit. The NurseResidency Unit creates a safe learning environment to assist indeveloping competent, highly-skilled nurses. Our dedicatedpreceptors, leadership team and Nurse Residency Coordinator provideunparalleled support to nurse residents during orientation andtransition to practice.
In the state-of-the-artnew Main Tower, the NRU nurse provides high-quality nursing care toacute care patients utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan,implement and evaluate the care of patients. He/she functionswithin the framework of the policies and procedures of theorganization and demonstrates professional growth andaccountability. The NRU nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care topatients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursingprocesses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care forpatients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies andprocedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growthand accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.

Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursingprogram
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing programeligible
MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License.
BLS certificationrequired.
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
For PRN positions: One year ofnursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
Bachelors degree preferred
Advancedcertification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
