3D Modeler - LVC SimulationsKBR is seeking a highly skilled 3D Modeler with 8-15 years of experience specializing in the creation of 3D models for Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) simulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and optimizing 3D models of military vehicles, equipment, and other assets for use in Department of Defense (DoD) simulations. This role requires expertise in creating realistic and high-fidelity models that enhance the accuracy and immersion of simulation environments. This is a full-time on-site position in Quantico, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Create high-quality 3D models of military vehicles, equipment, and other assets for use in DOD simulations. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and realism in all models. Optimize models for use in real-time simulations, considering factors such as poly count, texture size, rigging, and performance.
- Utilize industry-standard 3D modeling software and tools to create detailed, accurate, and optimized assets that meet simulation requirements. Collaborate with simulation developers and engineers to ensure seamless integration of 3D models into existing simulation frameworks. Perform quality assurance and testing of 3D models to ensure they meet performance, accuracy, and visual fidelity standards. Create and manage textures, materials, and animations for 3D models to enhance realism and functionality within simulations.
- Work closely with subject matter experts to accurately represent military vehicles and equipment, incorporating real-world specifications and details. Maintain and organize 3D model assets and documentation, ensuring they are readily accessible and updateable for future projects. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in 3D modeling, simulation technologies, and military equipment to continuously improve modeling practices. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for 3D model-related issues during the development and integration phases.
Required Qualifications:
Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphics, Game Design, Simulation Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 8-15 years of experience in 3D modeling, with a strong focus on military vehicles, equipment, and assets for LVC simulations.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, or similar tools.
- Experience with simulation platforms and tools, including integration of 3D models into DoD simulation environments.
- Strong understanding of real-world military vehicles and equipment specifications and the ability to translate these into accurate 3D models.
- Expertise in texturing, material creation, and animation for enhancing 3D models.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Experience with military simulation standards and frameworks (e.g., HLA, DIS).
- Familiarity with additional tools and technologies related to real-time simulation and visualization.
- Knowledge of procedural modeling techniques and optimization for performance in simulation environments.
- Background in scripting or programming related to 3D modeling and simulation.
