Position Summary

Tutor and assist students in academic studies in math and science for success.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Tutor students’ day and/or evening hours; remote/online or on campusAnalyze student needsAnswer student questions and clarify areas of concernGuide student developmentAssist in maintaining a clean and safe learning environmentReview classroom or curricula topics and assignmentsAssisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasksWork with students to help them understand key concepts, learned in the classroomTeach skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questionsDemonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tacticsTrack progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparationProvide students positive and constructive feedbackPerform other related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or above from a regionally accredited institution in the content area (or closely related field) being tutoredCommitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
