Shift: Nights, 7p-7a, 12x3, 36 hrs per week, EOWLength: 13 weeks
Requirements:

• VA license
• 1 year PCU experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIH

• No locals, 50-mile travel radius required
• Could be floated within their scope if needed
• First time travelers OK

CERTS REQUIRED: BLS, ACLS, NIHSKILLS REQUIRED:• Work setting: MS/Tele, Tele, Cardiac Tele, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown• Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response: nterpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry -on the unit monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams• Cardiovascular: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath• Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols, Titration of Insulin drips• Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure• IV therapy/Phlebotomy: Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management , PICC line management, Starting IVs• MEDICATIONS: Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, Manage Vasoactive drips-no titration• Neurological/Psychiatric: CVA• Respiratory: Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Non-invasive airway management• Professional Topics and Skills: Isolation Precautions• 1:5 patient ratio experience• 1 year PCU experience
Additional Preferred skills: Feeding tube care and management; PCA; Tracheostomy Management, Wound Care/Wound Vac; Meditech

UNIT INFO:Nurses on this unit care for adult patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems. The patient population on PCU/Tele includes cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary and more. As a RN on our unit, you will be accountable for the coordination of direct patient care and education.Avg Daily Census: 29Rooms: 28Beds: 32PCU Ratio: 1-:4-5. If they have an insulin drip the ratio goes 1:4.No vented patients
PATIENT DIAGNOSES:• Hypo/Hypertension• CHF• Chest pain• Stroke pre/post care• COPD• PE• Conduction blocks• Acute/Chronic Respiratory Failure• End stage renal failure• AFIB/AFIB with RVR• MI• NSTEMI• GI BLEED
SPECIAL PROCEDURES/ADDTL UNIT DETAILS:• Insulin drips for DKA's• pre/post cardiac cauterizations, pacemakers, ablations, cardioversions.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:• Sara Steady• Tenor• Maxi Move• Air Taps• bladder scanner• Vein finder
