Banner University Medical Center - Tucson (BUMC-Tucson) is an Academic, Level 1 Trauma hospital in Southern Arizona and has expanded and has the newest patient care equipment and computers for state-of-the-art care.

• Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix: Is ranked second nationally in Arizona and high-performing in cardiology/heart surgery, gastroenterology/GI surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, neurology/neurosurgery, orthopedics and pulmonary care.

Banner University Medical Center - Tucson, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join our ICU Team. As a Certified Patient Care Assistant working in the Intensive Care Unit, you will be taking care of patients that are critically ill with multi-system organ failures, sepsis, ARDS, pulmonary hypertension, liver failure, respiratory insufficiency/failures.

We are currently seeking Full Time Certified Patient Care Assistant -PCA to join our Banner University Medical Center- Tucson ICU PCA Teams

BUMC-Tucson ICU Teams include: CVICU- Cardiovascular ICU, MICU - Medical ICU, NSICU - Neurosciences ICU, and STICU - Surgical Trauma ICU.

You will be taking care of patients that are critically ill with multi-system organ failures, sepsis, ARDS, pulmonary hypertension, liver failure, respiratory insufficiency/failures. A Certified CNA / LNA License is optimal to have, but a passion for healthcare and patients is imperative. As a BUMC -Tucson PCA, you will become an integral part of our wonderful culture and a passion for providing only the highest standard of care to a diverse patient population within a fast-paced environment.

  • This is a full time day shift position working from 7am-7:30pm (3 -12 hour shifts)
  • Varied Shifts - could be working days nights, weekends. There are no set day schedules.
  • Weekend Rotations are required in this role. 2 Weekend shifts required each month
  • Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor
  • Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.

2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.

4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG
