Description

Summary:

The Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit is a 40-bed mixedunit on the 5th floor. This unit cares for the medical monitoredpatients as well as traumatic injuries transferred from the ICU andEmergency Department. It also specializes in post-operativecare of patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal andurologic procedures. The unit is known for being "The Center ofExcellence" for the care of bariatric surgery patients. For the40-bed unit, there is usually 3-4 PCTs scheduled each shift fornursing support. There is a Mobility Technician from the PhysicalTherapy Department that is assigned to the Acute Trauma MedicalSurgical unit to assist patients with becoming mobilized. The unitalso has a certified wound care nurse who makes rounds on everypatient weekly to ensure wound care is covered. 

A Registered Professional Nurse isresponsible for the delivery of patient care through the process ofassessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Inaddition, the Registered Professional Nurse prescribes, delegates,coordinates, supervises and evaluates patient teaching and theactivities of the ancillary nursing personnel while maintaining thestandards of professional nursing. The Registered Nurse is able toprovide direct and indirect care to patients. 

Requirements:

A.Education/Skills

Graduate of a State Board accredited School of Nursing orequivalent.

B.Experience

RN 1year of Acute Hospital experience preferred.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

Current RN license or permit topractice professional nursing in the State of Texas. American HeartAssociation BLS – within two (2) weeks ofemployment
