Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)

Qualifications:

  • Education:Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License issued by the Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA (preferred).
    • Eligible for or holding a Michigan Department of Education (MDE) School SLP certification or approval.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred but not required.
    • Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with IEPs, is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in assessment tools and intervention strategies for school-aged children.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This school-based role involves working with students to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, helping them reach their full potential in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.
  • Provide therapy sessions, both individually and in groups, tailored to students' specific needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
  • Stay current with best practices, research, and technology in speech-language pathology.
