This job description is for the Transportation MaintenanceSupervisor. This position is responsible for coordinating allrepairs, maintenance, and Capital Expense projects, while ensuringequipment, building requirements are maintained at the highestefficiency level possible. A Supervisor must be able to teach andmentor other technicians, including but not limited to, companypolicies and procedures, repair functions, work orders, assist inevaluation of shop Teammates, recording of data into themaintenance software system, maintaining an accurate partsinventory, and the requirements for maintaining a clean and safeworkingenvironment.

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS / PRINCIPALACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Developbudgets for repair, maintenance, supplies, third party support andspare parts inventory.
  • Negotiate maintenancecontracts and other third-party support for theTransportation.
  • Identify, prioritize andcoordinate the daily activities of Technicians, inspire thedepartment to achieve desired results in productivity, teamwork,safety and task proficiency.
  • Ensure thetraining and development of the team on all technical aspects ofTran's maintenance including, but not limited to, refrigeration,heavy duty tractors, trailer repair.
  • Maintainproper staffing, required training andcertifications.
  • Utilize computerizedmaintenance system "Fleet Assistant" to optimize asset utilizationthrough scheduled preventivemaintenance.
  • Monitor expenses by function andequipment.
  • Able and willing to provide "handson repairs" to all equipment repairsrequired.
  • Maintain an adequate spare partsinventory, monitor purchasing and expenseactions.
  • Develop and foster strong vendor andcontractor relationships to ensure the best quality, cost andcustomer service for the Transportation.
  • Worknights and weekends if required for supervision or work-relatedproblems.
  • Maintain and monitor safety processesto keep the Trans Shop in compliance with all federal, state andlocal regulations.
  • Effectively communicate bothwritten and orally with supervisor andpeers.
  • Followdirections.
  • Work independently and in a teamenvironment.
  • Comply with company attendancepolicy.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule tomeet the changing needs of the job.
  • Work inwarm and cold temperature conditions.
  • Otherduties mayapply.

MINIMUM SKILLSAND QUALIFICATIONREQUIREMENTS:
  • Have a4-year degree or equivalent professional training and experience inheavy maintenance discipline.
  • Have 5 or moreyears of maintenance supervision experience in an automotive orheavy-duty shop.
  • Possess outstanding leadershipqualities, including assertiveness, organization, enthusiasm,decisiveness, planning, confidence andaccountability.
  • Have excellent verbal andwritten communication skills.
  • Possess stronganalytical skills.
  • Be willing to work flexiblehours.
  • Have strong technical working knowledgeof Medium/Heavy equipment.
  • Possess computerskills including Windows, MSOffice and maintenance related computersystems.
  • Be able to speak, read and understandthe English language.
  • Be able to successfullypass a physical capabilities test, drug screen and criminalbackground check.
  • Be 18 years orolder.
  • Have 5 - 7 years job experience on majordiesel repairs, heavy duty tractor- trailer repairs, majorrefrigeration maintenance and repairs.
  • Possessa Valid Class C Driver's License. Prefer ClassA.
  • Preferred knowledge to handle all trailerand reefer repairs.
  • Have half of the followingcertifications with the other half achieved in 90 days ofemployment:
    • A current ASE certification inMedium/Heavy Truck Brakes (Test T4)
    • A currentASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Suspension and Steering(Test T5)
    • Have one or all certifications inCummins, Detroit or Maxx Force 13 Engines
    • Brakesystems and components
    • Tractor diagnostics andrepairs
    • Spicer-fuller, Eatontransmissions
    • Spicer-fuller, Eatondifferentials
  • Haveknowledge of OSIIA, EPA, DOT and CSA related procedures and safetyregulations.

WORKINGCONDITIONS:
  • Theenvironment encompasses all areas of a DistributionCenter.
  • This position requires the teammate towork inside the majority of the time.
  • Thisposition may require work in hot and cold temperature extremes andexposure to dust, dirt, fumes, noise, potentially harmfulchemicals, solvents and components, and working in close toproximity to otherteammates.
