Clinical Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: TheClinical Supervisor, in collaboration with and under the directionof the Nursing Department Director/Manager, is accountable forongoing shift leadership and operations of a clinical departmentand for nursing care safety and quality. The Clinical Supervisoruses sound human resource and budget principles to guide the dailyprovision of nursing services to patients and families. TheClinical Supervisor supports comprehensive patient and familyservices through effective participation with the interdisciplinaryteam. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supervisingnursing department associates and providing patient care whenneeded. Coaches and guides employees under his/her supervision.Demonstrates Professionalism and Excellence by performing as rolemodel for clinical and service excellence.
Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of anaccredited school of Nursing. BSN preferred. National specialtycertification preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:Current RN license in the State of New Mexico.Current BLS Certification. Current ACLS Certification or obtainwithin 6 months. Current PALS/NRP if applicable to area. CurrentTNCC if applicable to area or obtain within 6 months. Current CPIor equivalent must be obtained within six months for BehavioralHealth and Emergency Department. BLS, ACLS and PALS must be issuedthrough American Heart Association.
SKILLS: Must be able todemonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to providecare/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on theassigned unit/department.
EXPERIENCE: 3 years relevantexperience preferred but not required.

Works irregularhours. Multiple simultaneous activities of patient care. Exposureto infectious diseases and x-rays. Exposure to varyingunpredictable situations.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergencysituations, prolonged, extensive or considerable standing. Hasknowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Occasionally positions,pushes and/or transfers patients or equipment. Hearing and visualacuity within normal limits. Manual dexterity and fine motorcoordination required.
