ECS is seeking an Information Security Writer and Editor to work in our Washington, DC office.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Information Security Writer and Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in information security and cybersecurity, coupled with exceptional writing and editing skills. This individual will play a crucial role in communicating complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences through various channels. The Information Security Writer and Editor will collaborate with subject matter experts, create informative content, and ensure the accuracy and clarity of all security-related communications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Content Creation

  • Develop clear and concise content on information security topics for various mediums, including articles, blog posts, whitepapers, and technical documentation.
  • Translate complex security concepts into easily understandable and engaging content for diverse audiences.

2. Editing and Proofreading

  • Edit and proofread security-related content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with writers and subject matter experts to refine technical language for broader comprehension.

3. Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity experts, to gather information and insights for content creation.
  • Foster collaboration to ensure alignment between technical accuracy and effective communication.

4. Research

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in information security, cybersecurity threats, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct in-depth research to support the creation of authoritative and up-to-date security content.

5. Communication Strategy

  • Contribute to the development of information security communication strategies.
  • Ensure that all written materials align with organizational messaging and branding.

6. Training Materials

  • Develop training materials and resources on security awareness for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the creation of educational content to enhance the organization's overall security posture.

7. Quality Assurance

  • Conduct quality assurance checks on security documentation and communication materials.
  • Ensure that all content complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Required Skills:

  • Must have a current Top-Secret Clearance with the capability of Obtaining SCI / CI-Poly if needed to meet contract requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Writer or Editor in the field of information security.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threats, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with style guides and industry standards for security documentation.
  • Proficiency in using tools and platforms for content creation and collaboration.
