POSITIONSUMMARY: Twelve (12) month Pharmacy ResidencyProgram accredited by the American Society of Health-SystemPharmacists (ASHP) to provide post-graduate pharmacist training inclinical and distributive pharmacy for an integrated health caresystem. The candidate will be expected to promote the safe andeffective use of medication for all patients of the hospitalthrough proper interpretation of physician orders, accuratedispensing of pharmaceuticals, and monitoring of therapy. Thecandidate should be able to provide accurate, adequate and timelydrug information to other health care providers. Maintain andreview patient profiles and make recommendations to prescribers toensure appropriateness of therapy, avoid drug interactions andadverse reaction. The candidate should also be able to assistin maintaining appropriate inventories of approved medication forroutine, emergency, and floor stocksituation.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: RequiresDoctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school ofPharmacy.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Licensure by New Mexico Board of Pharmacy isrequired no later than October 1st year of hire. Continuouseducation to maintain licensure and certification(s), if any, isrequired.
SKILLS:
- Effective verbal and written communicationskills, advanced mathematical skills required
- Keyboarding skills are preferred (must be able to developcompetence using hospital pharmacy software)
- Word processing skills are preferred
- Must have the ability to work with medical staff, nursingstaff and other healthcare employees.
EXPERIENCE: Must havesuccessful completion of accredited pharmacy school curriculum andclinical training.
NATURE OFSUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director,Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy Manager
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogen B(Occasional exposure in daily duties. Littleexpected risk, but may be exposed unexpectedly to potentiallyinfectious materials. Exposure may be superficial and limitedto a small amount of fluid.) Close quarters in a busyenvironment. Possible exposure to patients with infectiousdiseases. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals andallergenic drug products. Extended exposure to video displayterminals.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS: Ability to work at a rapid pacethroughout entire shift, while under demanding workloads andstressful situations. Hearing sufficient to use telephonesand pagers and vision sufficient to read physician orders,requisitions and reports. Hand to eye coordination sufficientfor aseptic technique.
