About The Position
**Job Title:** Sterile Processing Technician**Job Specialty:** Sterile Processing**Job Duration:** 13 weeks**Shift:** Night - 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 Hours per week**Experience:** 400 hours of previous sterile processing experience required**License:** None specified**Certifications:** Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician**Must-Have:** - Graduate of an accredited sterile processing/central service curriculum preferred- Basic Life Support certification preferred- Basic computer skills- Fluent in English for effective communication**Job Description:**- Collect, receive, clean, disinfect, and decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to hospital policies and national guidelines.- Prioritize workload based on operating room and hospital unit needs.- Disassemble and inspect instruments, selecting appropriate cleaning tools and detergents.- Operate washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner to decontaminate instruments.- Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, proper working order, and need for repair or replacement.- Assemble, wrap, or containerize instruments and equipment.- Handle, scan, and store sterilized items in predetermined locations.- Distribute supplies and equipment to hospital units promptly.- Monitor sterilizers and equipment for mechanical, biological, and chemical adherence to quality standards.- Follow policies and procedures for safety and infection control standards.- Document activities accurately and legibly.- Participate in orientation and training of new staff.- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and adequate inventory supply.- Engage in performance improvement activities and problem-solving related to sterile processing.- Respond to urgent requests for instruments, trays, or equipment from departments. Note: This role requires working night shifts, including weekends and holidays, per unit requirements.
