Our client in Chesapeake, a global leader in solving the largest and most complex industrial machining and fabrication challenges, is looking to bring on FT CNC Machinist/Programmers. CNC Machinists will set up and operate manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment.
Job Details for CNC Machinist/Programmer:
Pay $30 - $35HR Depending on Experience
 Hours: M-F 7am – 3:03pm or 3pm – 11:30pmDirect Hire Benefits Offered 
Responsibilities for CNC Machinist/Programmer:
  • Use precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, manual milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment
  • Fabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal
  • Properly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling
  • Studies applicable drawings and prints of work to be performed and follows instructions
  • Must be able to determine the proper tools required to perform given task
  • Use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Machinig skills for CNC Machinist/Programmer:
  • Lathes, Grinders, Boring Mills, Planers, Portable Tools
  • Turn, Drill, Tap, Bore, Hone, Polish machine processes
  • Large part machining experience preferred. Ship propeller shafting, ship steering gear, etc.
  • In-place machining experience is desired
  • Forklift and Crane experience preferred

 Requirement for CNC Machinist/Programmer:
  • 3 to 5 years related experience is required 
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazatrol, Okuma, DMG/Mori CNC controls
  • Have experience with maintaining 0.001" tolerances
  • Have a basic understanding of G, D and T
  • Have experience in job setup on vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers and CNC turning centers
  • Willing to work at both Portsmouth, VA locations as job needs require
  • Read blueprints and measuring tools
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations
  • Work overtime as needed on evenings and/or weekends
  • Ability to track parts and jobs in JobBOSS and Travelers
