Position Summary:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking to recruit an academic Surgical Pathologist for a tenure-track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The position will involve diagnostic surgical pathology, with an opportunity to focus primarily, if not exclusively, on Breast Pathology. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Regular opportunities are available for teaching in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree, be board-certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina.

This position requires expertise in all aspects of Breast Pathology, including: image guided core biopsies and radiological-pathological correlation, evaluation of surgical specimens after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, interpretation of breast biomarkers with current ASCO/CAP guidelines, and evaluation of outside cases for patients referred to UNC. This also includes participation in multidisciplinary tumor board and effective communication with a very active clinical care team.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Sign-out experience and/or fellowship training in Breast Pathology is strongly preferred.
