Description

POSITIONSUMMARY: With minimum supervision administer radiation therapy
treatments & simulation in accordance with theprescription & instructions of the radiation
oncologist. Must be able to judge when the treatment should bewithheld until
consultation with the radiationoncologist. Must be able to assist in treatment planning
procedures including tumor localization & dosimetry.Triage sick patients to nursing for
evaluation. Abilityto perform daily and other QA (quality assurance) protocols.Ability to
initiate and run organ specific andprocedure specific CTprotocols.



Requirements

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accreditedRadiation Therapy Technology Program.
Associate’s orBachelor’s degree, or Certificate in Radiation TherapyTechnology.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Registered andcertified by the American Registry of
RadiologicTechnology (ARRT) as an RTT. Current New Mexico Statelicense.
SKILLS:
 Ability to operate alinear accelerator, computerized record and verify system,
portal imager, CT/simulator, HDR and ultrasound.
Excellent computer skills and trouble shooting ability.
 Must be able to understand and carry out complex radiationprescriptions and able
to work under pressure
EXPERIENCE: Prior experience as a radiation therapist or a newgraduate.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Manager, Medical Physics
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogens - B
Exposure to radiation, chemotherapy drugs, Hepatitis B,contagious diseases, infected
wounds and needlepuncture inherent in an acute care setting.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS: Ability to move quickly, bending, stretching, liftingpatients
of all weights with assistance, pulling orpushing wheelchairs and stretchers. Manual
dexterity,good vision, hearing and speech. Ability to lift heavy objectsabove the head or
below knee level.
