Piedmont Athens Regional,a primary Stroke center, is home to a DNV Stroke Certified NeuroScience floor. It is a 30-bed acute care facility that specializesin Stroke, Spinal injuries, head injuries, and pre and post-opsurgical needs. The nursing staff are NIHSS-assessment certifiedand attend the Georgia stroke classcurriculum.

This is a fast-paced, inpatient unitthat cares for patients along the continuum of their recovery. Ourteam of staff on the Neuro floor is supported by a StrokeCoordinator, PT/OT, Respiratory Therapy, Physicians, CaseManagement, Social Work, Secretary, Phlebotomy, lift team, IV team,STAT team, and Pharmacy. Our comprehensive orientation period pairsboth experienced and new staff with a qualified preceptor thathelps with goal-setting and training to ensure your success as partof the Neuro Team.

The Neurology unit providesnursing care to patients utilizing nursing processes to assess,plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/shefunctions within the framework of the policies and procedures ofthe organization and demonstrates professional growth andaccountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care topatients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursingprocesses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care forpatients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies andprocedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growthand accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.

Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursingprogram

MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing programeligible

MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License. BLS certification required.

ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced certification in fieldof specialty, if applicable. Bachelor's degree preferred. NursingExperience in Hospital Setting Preferred.
