Job Title: Division Chief, Anatomic Pathology Location: Houston, Texas Overview: The largest children's hospital in the nation is seeking an M.D. (or D.O.) or M.D./Ph.D. board-certified Pathologist to lead its Division of Anatomic Pathology. Academic appointment will be at the level of Associate Professor or Professor (with candidacy for tenure) in the Department of Pathology & Immunology. This position will direct the institutions highly regarded Anatomic Pathology Division comprised of pathologists, pathologists’ assistants, laboratory and administrative staff. The Department has launched digital pathology and is ready to expand this initiative for clinical practice. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Other Divisions within the Department of Pathology include Community Pathology, Discovery, Genomic Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Pathology Informatics, and Transfusion Medicine & Coagulation. Key Responsibilities: -This individual should be well-established in an AP subspecialty and have leadership experience in academic pathology. Subspecialties within the AP Division include Pediatric Pathology, Cytopathology and Neuropathology. AP services include surgical, cardiac, autopsy, gynecologic, placental/perinatal, renal, transplant and ultrastructural pathology. -Faculty members are expected to contribute to scholarly activities, as well as pathology resident and fellow education. -20-30% leadership responsibilities as Division Chief -5% teaching -10% research -Remaining time focused on clinical sign-out. Work Schedule and Environment: -Standard five-day workweek. -Typical hours: 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional extension to 6 PM. Candidate Qualifications: -Individual should have at least ten years of experience, be well-established in an AP subspecialty and have leadership experience in academic pathology. For this position Pediatric Pathology experience and/or fellowship training are not required but preferred. -Interested individuals must possess primary Board certification in either Anatomic Pathology (AP only) or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) by the American Board of Pathology. Board-certification in Pediatric Pathology is highly desirable but not required. Individuals must be eligible for an active, unrestricted Texas medical license. Community & Location Highlights: -This position will be in Houston, Texas at the institution's main campus location. Application Process & Timeline: -Immediate hire desired, with preference for candidates who can start early 2026. -The process begins with a video interview, followed by an on-site visit for final candidates.
