JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Culture Officer (CCO) is a key strategic leader responsible for developing and executing strategies that align and support our overall mission, values, and business objectives. The CCO plays a critical role in shaping and promoting the organizational culture at NCH. This position is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the well-being of all staff members and promotes patient-centered care. The COO requires a deep understanding of Human Resources, a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to lead cultural transformation within NCH.

Overall, the CCO is a strategic leader who plays a vital role in shaping the culture of NCH to drive organizational success, recruitment and retention, employee engagement and satisfaction, and patient outcomes.

The CCO provides strategic leadership and oversight for all functions within Human Resources, and Organizational & Leadership Development through the Center for Learning and Innovation. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement Cultural Strategies to enhance and maintain the NCH culture that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Development of programs and initiatives that promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and innovation. Oversee leadership development programs to cultivate a strong leadership pipeline. Identifies high-potential employees creating development plans for their career growth. Leads recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure alignment with the NCH culture. Oversight of all aspects of Human Resources to include but not limited to talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, HRIS, Employee Relations, and HR Audit and Compliance. Responsible for promotion of Diversity and Inclusion by fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for staff members from diverse backgrounds. Implement diversity training programs, supporting employee resource groups, and ensuring equitable practices in hiring and promotion. Enhance employee engagement and satisfaction by creating opportunities for professional growth, recognition, and feedback. Lead cultural transformation of NCH to align with best practices. Address cultural barriers by fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, promoting a culture of accountability and transparency. Develop and Implement strategies to promote just culture within NCH, ensuring fair and consistent treatment of employees at all levels. Lead the employee relations initiatives, including conflict resolution, performance management, and employee engagement programs. Design and oversee performance management systems to drive individual and organizational success. Leading the CFLI department, design and deliver training programs that promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Collaborate with senior leadership to align culture initiatives with the organization’s values and goals. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of culture-related programs and initiatives, making recommendations for continuous improvement. Lead by example in promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and trust within NCH. Foster communication channels between employees and leadership, encouraging feedback and dialogue to enhance organizational culture. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment through effective employee relations programs. Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall well-being. Develop and implement comprehensive recognition programs that celebrate and acknowledge employee achievements, milestones, nurture high-potential employees, and contributions to the organization. Coordinate and oversee employee recognition initiatives, including rewards, incentives, and appreciation events to foster a culture of recognition and appreciation. Facilitate with other organizational leaders the planning and organization of milestone events, such as work anniversaries, promotions, and retirements, to recognize and honor employees for their dedication and commitment. Measure the ROI of recognition programs and initiatives, demonstrating their value in enhancing employee satisfaction, motivation, and overall organizational culture. Lead initiatives to enhance leadership development, including coaching, mentoring, and training programs to strengthen the skills and capabilities of leaders. Conduct through the Korn Ferry leadership assessments and evaluations to identify development opportunities at all levels of the organization, creating tailored plans to support employee growth and advancement. Collaborate with HR, CFLI, and other departments to design career development pathways, employee and leadership journey mapping, succession planning, and talent management programs that support organizational and leadership development goals. Lead with the HR, HR Strategic Business Managers, and the CFLI team, workshops, training sessions, and team-building activities, in the simulation center when appropriate, to promote a culture of continuous learning, growth, and development. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in organizational and leadership development, incorporating innovative strategies to drive continuous improvement and growth within NCH.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree in healthcare administration, human resources, or organizational development preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in leadership, with a focus on human resources, organizational culture, and employee engagement. Requires outstanding communication skills, problem, and conflict resolution skills. Proven track record of driving cultural change and transformation within a complex organization.
