Faculty, Criminal Justice Instructor

Job Summary
This full-time faculty position will support instruction for Northcentral Technical College’s (NTC) Criminal Justice Associate's Degree program, Law Enforcement Academy, and the Corrections Academy. This position will teach program students in Wausau at the main campus and in Merrill at the Public Safety Center of Excellence. The faculty is expected to remain familiar with the program's objectives, content, instructional methods, and evaluation procedures.

As a member of a learning team, faculty report to a designated dean and participate in program, school, interschool, and College-wide team activities. Faculty provide instruction, expertise, and leadership within their program and content area. Faculty are expected to remain current in their area of expertise and in the field of education through professional growth and continuous learning activities. Faculty contribute to the College community as exemplified by committee involvement, participation in leadership activities, academic advisement of students, and sponsorship of student activities. Faculty members are also encouraged to be involved in the NTC College through various service opportunities in community organizations or through other community activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.
Teaching:
Facilitate learning through classroom activities, out-of-classroom activities, and the mentoring of students and peers.
Assess and evaluate student performance in alignment with the College assessment plan in a timely manner.
Conduct assigned classes for the scheduled length of time.
Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and performance evaluations, and ensure compliance with relevant Department of Justice regulations.
Furnish written evaluations as requested by students.
Maintain course outcome summaries, learning plans, Performance Assessment Tasks (PATs), syllabi, and online Learning Management System template in the approved College format and time parameter.
Actively select and use appropriate learning materials and resources including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning.
Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a new or modified course/certificate/program. Stay current and focused on learner needs.
Keep professionally up-to-date in area of content expertise and in the teaching profession.
Actively support diverse learners.
Maintain professional certifications and requirements.
Maintain documentation as required by regulatory bodies, program, and NTC.
Assist, participate, support, and carry out the duties as assigned.
Actively engage in program health and program quality review activities.
College Support Duties:
Submit final grades by the scheduled due date identified on the academic calendar.
Post and maintain Student Connect office hours.
Coordinate instructional support services to meet individual student accommodation and modification needs.
Utilize and engage in professional day activities and team time as designated.
Participate in institutional, advisory and program team and committee meetings.
Attend the College’s in-service sessions, commencements, and other activities as directed.
Assist in student recruitment, K12, and other Student Services activities.
Attend College Open Houses (on-campus and off-campus, set-up and take down) to assist with student recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications Required
In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor’s degree, required or willing to complete a bachelor’s degree within 5 years
Wisconsin Department of Justice Law Enforcement General Instructor certification, required
DAAT/POSC Certification, preferred
Radar Certification, preferred
Tactical Response Certification, preferred
Physical Evidence Certification, preferred
Interview/Interrogation Certification, preferred
Constitutional Law Certification, preferred
Scenario Certification, preferred
Traffic Law Certification, preferred
Corrections Officer Certification, preferred
Experience:

Additional Experience Information:
*Occupational instructors must have a minimum of two years (4,000 hours) full-time or equivalent demonstrated relevant occupational experience, one of which must be within the last five years.
*May waive the occupational experience of one year within the last five years if the candidate has two years post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents; present topics to internal and external individuals of all levels.

Ability to perform and work complex calculations, make comparisons, interpret and provide logical explanations to others.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions to critically create resolutions; interpret instructions in mathematical or diagram form with abstract and concrete variables.
Technical Skills:
Ability to perform complex operations in a variety of job-specific systems, understand functionality to apply advanced functions, manage/customize and create calculations with data.
Customer Service Skills:
Ability to understand complex concerns and formulate solutions; communicate professionally with various audiences in different situations.

*Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and ability to meet NTC’s insurance carrier standards.
