Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' occupational therapy needs. Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on evaluation results and collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

  • Therapy and Intervention: Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, focusing on improving their fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care skills, and overall functional abilities. Design and deliver individualized and group therapy sessions tailored to students needs.

  • Collaboration: Partner with teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to integrate therapy goals into the students' educational programs. Offer strategies and recommendations to support students' participation in classroom activities and daily routines.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP goals. Prepare and submit required documentation and reports in accordance with district and state regulations.

  • Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices and advancements in occupational therapy. Participate in professional development opportunities, attend relevant workshops, and engage in ongoing learning to enhance your skills and knowledge.

  • Student Advocacy: Advocate for students' occupational therapy needs and ensure they receive the necessary support and accommodations to succeed in the school environment. Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Certification: Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Washington. Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred.

  • Experience: Experience in a school setting is highly desirable. Experience working with students of various ages and with a range of occupational therapy needs is a plus.

  • Skills: Strong assessment and intervention skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with students, families, and school staff. Ability to manage a diverse caseload and maintain organized records.

  • Attributes: Empathetic, patient, and dedicated to supporting students' developmental and educational success. Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to tailor therapy techniques to meet individual student needs.
