This position is responsible for relationship development with partners and high schools, prospect generation, student application assistance, and follow-up within a specific territory. This team member contributes to the successful accomplishment of the University's enrollment objectives by promoting university programming and assisting clients in the application process. The Admissions Counselor will periodically assist with application processing within the prospect pool, including but not limited to dual enrollment, first-year, adult, and readmit populations. This position regularly deals with personal and confidential information. Confidentiality must be respected and guarded by this team member. Honesty, integrity, and outstanding interpersonal skills are required.Responsibilities Recruitment and OutreachThe person in this position will perform several tasks, including promoting the university's academic offerings by managing a recruitment territory consisting of high schools or technical schools in and out of the state; attending targeted fairs, scheduling on-site and off-site visits. This position also works with internal and external partners to promote the university and increase enrollment.Establish professional relationships with high schools, technical schools, etc. that lead to desired recruitment goals or, outlined within MOU agreements.Perform high-level engagement with admitted students through a personalized approach to convert them to enrolled students.Responsible for the receipt, handling, and recording of official and confidential student admission documents to ensure they are timely processed.Assisting with on-campus EventsParticipates in on-campus events designed to support Clayton State University's efforts to recruit and retain students. These events occasionally occur on evenings and/or weekends with on-campus events such as: Freshman Preview Day, Orientation, and other special events with the community and outside partners.Responds to student inquiries by working the front desk; responds to assigned work tickets and email inquiries from students, parents, and counselors.Creates and updates on and off-campus events in CRM.Fulfills other duties as assigned.Admissions and ProcessingResponsible for the receipt, handling, and recording of official and confidential student admission documents to ensure they are processed on time.Routinely processes admission records and documents tasks related to new student enrollment, including data entry, troubleshooting, and reconciliation.Budgetary RequirementsCompleting routine reports related to recruitment, projections, conversions, personal schedule, travel, and programs/expenses.Assists in the compilation of data and drafting reports requested by the university administration.Physical DemandsThis position requires extensive travel. It also involves some lifting, pushing, and pulling when relocating supplies, equipment, and printed materials for use in the office and at events; therefore, lifting between 10-20 pounds is occasionally required.Inter-Departmental RelationshipsThe person in this position also acts cooperatively as a team member of the Office of Admission, while also working closely with the Center for Advising and Retention, Housing and Residence Life, and other departments to provide information about the Clayton State University educational experience and admissions requirements during a variety of professional events, presentations, and workshops.Required Qualifications Bachelor's DegreeCurrent, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's licensePreferred Qualifications Master's PreferredKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge and SkillsStrong communication and negotiation skills, including professional writing, public speaking, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, event planning, and presentation skills.Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e Element 451, Microsoft Office suite, BANNER, document imaging, student CRM databases, and reporting software)Strong attention to detail and follow-up skillsOutstanding customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquetteKnowledge of Ellucian Banner software is highly desired.Must have current knowledge of the rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to student records.Excellent interpersonal skills.Must possess critical thinking skills and be able to logically support and make decisions independently.USG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
