Lecturer in Commerce

The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a full-time General Faculty position at the Lecturer rank (tenure-ineligible) in finance. The position will commence with the Fall 2024 semester, and the faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance and engage as the Assistant Director of the Center for Investment and Finance Markets (CIFM). This position will entail teaching up to 18 credit hours. Key responsibilities will include:
- Course development and instruction in finance.
- Support and develop initiatives revolving around McIntire-affiliated student investment club, our finance-related opportunities for second-year students, including Finance Academy and Careers in Finance, and CIFM’s Professional Speaker Series.
- Coordinate with various departments within McIntire, including Communications and Marketing, Advancement, Academic Advising, and Career Services.
- Facilitate connections and interactions between students, alumni, and financial professionals.
- Lead CIFM's marketing and outreach efforts, ensuring high standards and effective communication of center activities under the direction of the Center’s academic director.
A Master’s degree in a relevant field is required. Applicants must have experience teaching finance courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs. Experience in the Finance industry is strongly preferred. In addition, a strong applicant will have: 1) the ability to teach courses in the Finance discipline at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; 2) an interest in engaging with financial professionals, and 3) the interest in and potential to contribute as a leader at McIntire.
