The Senior Correctional Officerassists in the supervision of the administrative andoperational security activities in a correctional facility. They directly supervises Correctional Officers assigned to theshift. They also provide for the protection of eachinmate/resident and the preservation of each inmate’s/ resident’slegal rights.
- Provide general supervision ofCorrectional Officers and inmates/residents on the shift in theperformance of their duties and evaluate as prescribed by thefacility and corporatepolicy.
- Conductinspections of all housing and general use areas to ensure thatproper standards, facility operating procedures and corporateguidelines of security, health, safety, sanitation and welfare aremaintained; direct staff and inmate/resident resources to correctproblems detected. Assist in supervisingthe internal and external security of the facility; routinelyinspect posts to observe alertness of personnel and to confirmsecurity is properly maintained at alltimes.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GEDcertification orequivalent. Two years experience in acriminal justice field, which preferably includes one year in asupervisory capacity.Additional education may besubstituted for the experience on a year-for-yearbasis.
- Completion of basicpre-service officer training and, where applicable, be anon-commissioned security officer licensed by the state ofemployment.A valid driver'slicense is required.Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
