Job Summary

The Departmental Assistant - Special Projects Worker performs varied tasks as assigned by the Special Projects Manager, including grounds maintenance, repair and maintenance of tools and equipment, recycling, and furniture demolition. This is a temporary position.

Essential Functions

Assists with repairs of grounds, landscaping, demolition, furniture removal, and recycling.Performs tasks in connection with, but not limited to, grounds and landscaping maintenance, furniture removal and luggage.

Other Functions

May work independently on construction, recycling tasks as assigned by Special Projects Manager.May operate power equipment as required to support the completion of assigned work.May direct the work of a small group of students as assigned by the Special Project Manager.May operate a vehicle for the purpose of transporting students and/or materials to worksite.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.Mechanical aptitude. Ability to lead and direct the work of students.

Additional Details

Qualifications Acquired on Job

Knowledge of materials, tools and equipment commonly employed in grounds and landscaping trades.Ability to operate and care for equipment.Knowledge of policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, pull, push, stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements.Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.Physical stamina and endurance.Manual dexterity.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, hours vary between 7:00am - 3:00pm.This is a temporary and unbenefited position.

Salary Information

$16 per hour.
